Woman's Series

This is a work in process series of pieces that address past and present woman's issues and their struggle to cope in man's world. There are three pieces completed with the fourth, "It's A Boy" almost ready for an unveiling. There will be ten pieces in all when the collection is completed this Fall. The series will cover discrimination, inequality, birth contol, abortion, eating disorders, stereotypes, lesbianism, violence, child rearing and sexuality.
Las Crusis - Woman's Issues Series

From the artist's Woman's Issue Series Las Crusis is the Latin term not only for cross, but for torment or trouble; a symbol of grave abuse. Aptly named, this sculptural work is representative of the long history of women’s abuse. The iconography is evocative of the purest of hearts also in service of man. Yet, as in the religious story 2,000 years ago where man’s ignorance, fear and need for control was responsible for the death of the innocent preacher for peace, many women still bear the nearly identical burden in this world. Bound by the ropes of tradition and culture, they suffer in silence even in the most civilized of societies. This sculpture is meant to jar the viewer into the realization that all of us may not be so free and equal. What can we do to help?
Melon - Woman's Issues Series

Another selection from the Artist's Woman's Issues Series. With this piece the viewer is reminded of Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, (1527-1593) famous for his portrait compositions in fruit and vegetables. In Arcimboldo’s “Composite Heads” the faces and human features are painted, not in flesh, but with rendered clumps of assorted vegetables, fruits and other materials. In “Melon" the artist has created a similar feel, but here by combining an anthropomorphic blend of flesh with ripe melon,” warmly symbolic of the sweetness of life waiting to spill out from inside the plump fruit of womanhood.
The Patch - Woman's Issues Series

Part of the artist's Woman's Issues Series, the Patch is a simple but startling visual of a contemporary birth control method. The Patch is a play on words between the woman's pubic area (slang: patch)and the actual transdermal bandage attached to the lower adomen, also known as the "patch." It is a commentary in art on one of the many complex issues of the "right-to-life" controversy. This is a lower front torso casting, realistically painted in acrylic paint and mounted on a clear acrylic stand.
Balloons - Woman's Issue Series

There is an interesting story of how this came about. I met this girl at the Bronx Zoo as a volunteer leading first graders on a class trip. After I saw her buying balloons for each child, the inspiration hit me. I just had to ask her to pose for a piece of sculpture for my vision of the effects of body enhancements.
The Heart Series

The following pieces were created for the Warner Bros' dating show Change of Heart between 2002-2003. Contestants came to the studio to have a lifecasting made using their escort as the artist's helper. Each piece was created live in front of the television cameras.
Change of Heart I - The Heart Series

This statue was the first in a series of commissions for the Warner Bros. dating shows Change of Heart. This front torso casting included below the nose to mid thigh. The cast was completed in Forton MG. It was finished in a faux bronze Verde green giving it a very classical look. It is wall mounted.
Change of Heart II - The Heart Series

The model was the second I was asked to do for the Warner Bros. Series Change of Heart. He was a large man over 6' 4" Though he was cast in the nude we later cast a drapery to cover him. The piece was cast in Forton MG and nicely faux finished in distressed pewter. Since the piece was so large we elected to build a stand to mount it on.
Change of Heart III - The Heart Series

This was the third in a series I completed for the Warner Bros. dating show Change of Heart. The model was modest so we made the mold with her partially dressed. It was finished in a bronze/copper to simulate the real skin color of the model. The piece was cast in Forton MG and is wall mounted.
The Painted Ladies Series

A group of torso castings created from models with a variety of body piercings in various locations. It is a commentary on today's women who adorn themselves with body piercings for beauty and attention.
Ice Lady - Painted Ladies Series

This was a front torso casting created with a lovely Asian model. When it was completed she suggested the color - blue. The necklace was her idea; (click on the image to see a larger one) I added the body piercing jewelry that was purchased from a Greenwich Village body-piercing store. This piece was cast in CastRite.
Painted Lady II - Painted Lady Series

This is the second in a series of young women with body piercings. Each has been finished in a bold color. When all five pieces are complete they will be displayed together as on work of art. The cast was made in Forton MG.

The Portrait Series

A selection of various portraits
Life Is Good - Portrait Series

This piece is the result of a face casting I did of two 9-year old twins Jake and Jesse mounted on in bias relief, then faux finished in bronzed. Their mother commissioned it as a father's day present. The entire process was documented on our first 'how-to' DVD called, "How To Create An Artistic Face Casting." It is available on the www.artmolds.com site.
Kelly's Face

This face casting was completed in 24K gold leaf similar to the face casts found in the ancient Egyptians tombs.
Dreams of Youth - Portrait Series

This head portrait was done in Denver. After I completed it I added the shirt and finished it in a faux bronze. The cast was done in Pottery Plaster.
Princess Lost - Portrait Series

A face portrait of a beautifulo Asian model finished in gold leaf and mounted on a hardwood plaque. The Chinese characters read, "Sherrie." The bronze engraved name plate contains the title of the work.
Broken Hearted - Portrait Series

This was a front head casting created for the Newark Star Ledger a major New Jersey Newspaper. They called us and requested that they visit the studio to photograph a lifecasting being made. Their article appeared on October 10, 2002. The lifecasting was created using ArtMolds Face Casting kit and the beautiful model, Jill Klem. The raw casting was finished using the ArtMolds Finishing Kit. Note the detail of the ring and narrow bracelet.
Day Dreams - Portrait Series

This piece was of my young assistant two summers ago. She was so relaxed when I did the face casting she actually went to sleep. I finished the piece in a faux bronze and mounted it on a cherry plaque. It was created in CastRite.
The Classic Series

Here are examples of classic style works in the manner of Grecco/Roman artistry.
Selune - Classic Series

This is a reclining nude cast as a classical wall hanging. The finish is completed in faux weathered marble.
Angela

A front torso cast in cold cast bronze the patinaed using cold acid.
Kelly

This front torso was created as an experiment for a marble finish. I was pleased with the result as the surface radiats a white marble glow.
Commission

Much of my work is on a commission basis. I do many pregnancy casting as well as face and head casting. I included a full body commission as well for reasons of variety. If you are looking to commission a beautifull lifecasting, please contact me.
Super Hero - Commision Series

A collector of Japanese super hero costumes commissioned this. He requested a full body cast of an Asian male not over 5' 3" I finally, located a willing model, a scientist, at Lucent. The cast was completed in Forton MG and left unfinished at the request of the client.
My Breast Friends - Commision Series

This bust was created from a mold of the back and front on a very famous international fashion model. It was a commission from DeBeers (the "Diamonds Are Forever," people.) which required five copies sent around the world for display. The piece was left marble white.
Pregnant Relief - Commision Series

This wall relief was created for a client who wished a special wall hanging of her pregnancy. It was cast on October 17, 2002 and she gave birth several days later. The drapery cloth was added later as a permanent addition to the piece to give a neo- classical look.
