This statue was the first in a series of commissions for the Warner Bros. dating shows Change of Heart. The model was Miss Belize. This front torso casting included below the nose to mid thigh. The cast was completed in Forton MG. It was finished in a faux bronze Verde green giving it a very classical look. It is wall mounted. Change of Heart I Change of Heart II. The model was the second I was asked to do for the Warner Bros. Series Change of Heart. He was a large man over 6' 4." Though he was cast in the nude we later cast a drapery to cover him. The piece was cast in Forton MG and nicely faux finished in distressed pewter. Since the piece was so large we elected to build a stand to mount it on. Change of Heart II Change of Heart III. Call 1-866-ARTMOLDS Lifecasting 2001 Series Workshops These new series of lifecasting workshops taught by lifecasting instructor Ed McCormick at his Millington NJ studio, have been designed for one to five students at a time so that each student not only gets the personal attention of the instructor, but also is able to have sufficient time for creating a lifecasting of their own. Workshop fees are quoted for a single student. Additional students will lower the average fee per student. As an example the fee for a single student for a half-day workshop is $295. Each additional student pays $75. Therefore, if five students participate the average fee per student is then $119.00. ($295 + $75 x 4 divided by 5). Material and modeling fees are extra. For a multi-student workshop a student can substitute as the model. That will eliminate modeling fees. 2001 Hands Workshop with Ed McCormick, ALI This half-day workshop introduces the student to the basic techniques of body molding and body casting using one of the most expressive and interesting body parts – the hands. The student will learn the alginate method of hand casting becoming familiar with preparation, pose and mixing techniques. The student will create his or her own hand casting using themselves as a model. Once the mold id complete the student will measure, mix and pour the casting stone to create the finished hand casting. Once de-molded the student will learn the art of repair and cleanup and mounting to complete his or her finished piece. ½ Day $295.00 plus material for individual instruction Each additional student $75.00 per student, up to four additional students. 2001 Face Workshop with Ed McCormick, ALI This one-day workshop introduces the student to the technique of face casting using the alginate method to create a highly detailed life casting of the model. Face casting requires additional skill sets in safety techniques, as the models' face will be covered with molding material. It is advisable not to try a face cast unless a student has received instruction from someone experienced in the technique. This workshop provides those skills for the student. A student should have taken the hand cast course as a prerequisite to the face-casting workshop. In the first half of the day, the student will practice face casting on a lifecast made for the purpose. During the afternoon the student will make a face cast using a live model. One Day $495.00 plus material plus $75.00 model fee for individual instruction Each additional student $150.00 per student, up to 4 additional students. Model fee will not be required, as students will use each other as models. 2001 Torso Workshop With Ed McCormick, ALI This two-day weekend workshop introduces the student to more advanced lifecasting skills by creating a front torso wall hanging. The student will learn the alginate method of lifecasting including material preparation, mixing and application. In addition the student will learn the art of model preparation and the required professional skills of working with a nude model to assure his or her confidence, comfort and cooperation in the lifecasting process. Emphasis will be placed on obtaining a high-quality artistic pose. The student will train in the art of material selection, de-molding, mold repairs, casting, finishing and mounting. The first day the student will learn about material options, mixing and posing. Later in the morning a mold will be made from a live model. After lunch the mold will be examined, repaired, prepped and for casting. The student will then be taught the layer technique for casting a strong lightweight gypsum-based casting. The following day the student will learn how to remove the cast from the mold and make repairs in preparation for finishing. Late in the morning finishing will begin. The student will learn how to apply a realistic faux bronze to his or her cast and mounting options will be offered. Two Days $995.00 plus material plus. $125.00 model fee for individual instruction. Each additional student $250.00 per student, up to 4 additional students. Model fee will not be required if students wish to use each other as models. 2001 Materials Workshop with Ed McCormick, ALI Although lifecasting using basic body molding techniques has remained unchanged since the 1940s, casting materials have evolved dramatically. This two-day workshop will introduce the lifecasting student to an entire range of casting materials including Forton MG, cold cast metals, cast marble, clear resin, urethanes that provide fiberglass, ivory and ebony finishes. As a special feature the workshop will introduce the student to several non-mechanical methods to scale your lifecasting up or down while maintaining the detail of the original cast. Two Days $995.00 plus material. Each additional student $250.00 per student, up to 4 additional students. REGISTERING: Please give as much advanced notice as possible when registering for a workshop.
